How long should a job ad be?
Recruiter, Mitch Sullivan, talking about how long a job ad should be.
I often get asked how long a job ad should be and there is no easy answer to this a lot of it will depend on the type of candidate audience you’re writing the ad for.
For example is it for younger less experienced people who are on the upward curve of their career journey or is it for people who are more specialised and more senior?
It can also depend on what type of job it is – whether it’s a communication based role such as marketing or sales or whether it’s a role that has got more to do with facts and figures and numbers like accountancy or software engineering for example.
But in general the more Junior the audience I would suggest that your word count needs to be somewhere between 250 and 350 words and for more senior roles I would probably suggest somewhere between four and six hundred words
